NEW FREEZING WORKS.

(Per United Tm« Association.) OAMARU, March 5. The now freezing works of the Christchurch Meat Coy., estimated to be the most up-to-date in the Dominion, were opened to-day. (by a special function at which speeches on the frozen meat trade and the'enterprize of the company wore made bv the Hon. W. Fraser (Minister of Public Works), Mr John Roberta, C.M.G., and others. Mr Roberts’ speech was interesting from the fact that he dealt with the frozen meat industry from its inception up to the present time. The works are capable of dealing with 3000 sheep daily, and the storage capacity is about'4o/000. !Tl>e company will deal with all the- bye-products at the works.
