DEATH OF A PIONEER MANUFACTURER. Press Association.—Telegrnrh.— Copyright yt Received March C. 11.20 n.m. ~ NEW YORK, March 5. Obituary—Henry Green, the pioneer manufacturer of X ray tubes. Death was due to careimoma of the liver, induced by X ray poison. Green developed the first focussing tubes, and successfully operated later, beginning their manufacture on a commercial basis. MR. W. H. C. FOSTER. The friends of Mr W. H. G. Poster will learn with regret of his death, which occurred to-day. Mr Foster haa been a resident of Wanganui for something like forty years, and was wellknown and highly respected throughout this district. He will bo well remembered ns mine host for many tears of Poster’s Hotel, formerly the Steam Packet Hotel, which, with the aid of his capable wife, he raised to the status of one of the best-known and mpst popular hostilities in the Dominion. Jlr Poster handed over its charge, to his eldest son some five years ago, and since then had not engaged actively in; business. Mr Foster found time outside of Ids business interests, to give much valuable assistance in many ..directions. An enthusiastic believer in national defence, ho 'W was for many years an officer in tho old AVanganni Rifles, He was a firstclass rifle shot, more than once being very close to winning the N.Z. Champion Belt; and was a member of the Wanganui Rifles’ famous team which, in the 80’s and 90 k,, put up such splendid records. With considerable musical gifts, he was at one time a favourite amateur singer, and a leading member of the old AVanganni Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society. In his younger days he had some skill with the oar. and had been a member of the Union Boat Club from its inception, and was also a vieonresident. lie was also a vorv keen bowler, and bis figure will be much missed from the AV.B.C. green. He leaves a widow and an adult family of four sons and four daughters to mourn his loss, and to them sincere sympathy will be extended in their bereavement.’
