INDECOROUS ATTIRE.
RESOLUTIONS BY AUSTRALASIAN WOMEN. NAUGHTY MEN. Frees Association—Telegraph—Copyright Received 3larch 5, 9.30 a.m. MELBOURNE. March 5. The Australasian Women’s Conference resolved that all members of the association refrain from the prevailing fashion of indecorous attire. The mover, in the course of a warm condemnation of the prevailing fashions said it W’as dreadful to have to sit in trams and trains wjth women who had lost all sense of decency and modesty. She was surprised the Government had not taken action. If the unfortunate class of women wore such costumes the police would arrest them. It was degrading to respectable women to see others wearing insufficient clothing to cover the body. She saw a window display of tango underskirts being viewed more by men than women. (A delegate interjected;— “Like their chock!” Another speaker urged that women should take action to prevent such displays of indecency, as they were shocking and disgraceful. MARRIAGE OF THE UNFIT. Received March 5, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE, March 5. The Australasian Women’s Conference decided to approach the Government with a view to amendment of the marriage law to prevent the marriage of those unfit for parenthood.
