WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE.
DEPUTATIONS TO U.S. HOUSE. Frees Association—Telegraph—Copyright • 3VASHINGTON. March 4. The House Judiciary Committee heard suffrage and anti-suffragist deputations demanding a constitutional amendment of the United States laws providing for feminine suffrage. Dr. Mary Walker, trousered and silk hatted, a noted feminist who is socially permitted to wear male garb, made a vigorous plea for women’s rights, threatening that women voters throughout the suffrage States would destroy the Democratic Party unless their demands were granted. The Senate later debated the question. 3lr. Clapp held that all’evil influences throughout the United States sought to prevent women getting rotes, as they would instantly right many glaring social wrongs.
