THE LABOUR PARTY. Frees Association—Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 16. The Bight Bon. John Burns, in a speech at Stockport, said lie did not anticipate a general election for 18 months. Mr Ramsay Macdonald, speaking at Nelson, admitted that Lord Gladstone was unable to withhold his sanction to martial law, but suggested that he could have resigned. The Labour Party intended during the pretent session to introduce amendmens more often than any other, and to make demands in connection therewith. If the Government met them they proposed to withdraw tho amendments. If the Tories opposed the withdrawals, the Labouriics would vote against their own amendments. He added that unless the Labourites could not get concessions the amendments l would be carried to a division. He appealed for a still stronger Labour Party, contending that with 100 members the party ought to be able to rule the House of Commons, and turn out tho Government and enter office.
