CONCLUDING BUSINESS. IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS. (Per United' Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February lb. There was a meeting of the full Congress on .Saturday morning to consider the reso- • hit ions which have been passed by the various sections of the Australasian Medical Congress, and at half-past eleven the visiting doctors left Auckland by special train for Rotorua. From 150 to 200 doctors took advantage of this opportunity to visit the lint Lakes district. About 80 doctors will go down the Wanganui River on Wednesday by special steamer, proceeding oiF'to Wanganui on Thursday, to connect with the train for Wellington. This is being done to suit a considerable number of doctors who are catching Friday’s steamer from Wellington to Sydney. Others, of course, are making more extensive trips in New Zealand.

A recommendation from the Public Health section, that in. future the school inspection and hygiene section should he separated from public health and established as an independent section, was endorsed It was argued that the subject of hygiene and medical inspection of schools was becoming such an important branch of medical work that it should rank as a special!section. CARE OF THE FEEBLE-MINDED. Following up the comprehensive report on the care and control' of the feebleminded, the combined sections of psychological, medicine, public health, and diseases of children recommended the Congress to urge the State Governments of Australia and the Now Zealand Government to take into consideration, with a view to legislating at the earliest possible moment, the recommendations submitted in reference to the establishment of day and residential schools for the treatment of mental defects. The motion was adopted, and the exiting committee was re-appointed with power to add to its numbers. MEMBERSHIP OF FUTURE CONGRESSES. A resolution, passed by the Council of the British Medical Association, to the effect that membership of future congresses he limited to the membership of the British Medical Association, came up tor consideration. During the discussion which followed, the fear was expressed that if such a limitation were imposed the Congress might be deprived of the services of some good men who had ne- ' gloated or omitted to become members of the B.TT.A. It was decided to alter the resolution to read: “That future congresses of the British Medical Association.” A PERMANENT COMMISSION. A further motion was carried setting up a permanent commission for the whole of Australasia to guide arrangements for the production of reports and act as an advisory body to the executive of the Congress. Tiie New Zealand members are Drs. IV. E. Collin's and Hardic-Neil, and Professor Colquhoun, Dr. Collins was appointed chairman and Dr. Hardie-Neil general secretary.
