A committee, including Lords Grey, Plymouth, Rothschild and Cowdray appeals for funds to celebrate the hundred years’ peace, similar to the movements in Canada and the United States. The British committee proposes to place a memorial in Westminster Abbey and purchase Sulgrase Manor, the ancestral home of the Washington family, and found a professorship of Anglo-American history, the whole costing .£60,000.
