In the course of au address, Dr. Yaliutiue, Inspector-General of Menial Hospitals, said that the statistics for the past year had just come to bawl, showing that Ihe general death-rate iu New Zealand was 88 per IUOO, which was. the lowest yet recorded. The same might bo said with regard to the infantile death-rate, which was 51 per 1000. These two deathrates, also the death-rate from consumption (5 per 10,000) are the lowest recorded iu any country.
