FRUIT GROWERS’ ASSOCIATION

MEETING ON FRIDAY NIGHT. Qn Friday evening a meeting of the Wanganui Fruit-growers’ Association was held in Dustin's Rooms, at which a letter was received from the Department of Horticulture approving of the fruit tree pruning and spraying organisation inaugurated by the Association, and promising to publish details of the scheme in the next issue of the Dopaitment’s Journal. Mr Hyde was present, and.considered that similar organisations would become general all over the Dominion, and would prove of great assistance to small fruitgrowers. The secretary was authorised to accept the tender of Mr W. Parnell, of Parnell md Si.'ii, Victoria Avenue, for pruning ind spraying. The cost of.pruning varies with the size and age of the .tree, and•uns from fonrpencc upwards, while the -ost of spraying-varies both with the age if the tree and the kind of spray used, rnd will range from :id to Is, including vhat are known as “rogues.”
