IMPERIAL PARTNERSHIP.

POSITION OF THE DOMINIONS. Press Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright LONDON, May 9. • In the House of Commons, on a motion of adjournment, Mr Page Court raised the question of converting the imperial Conference into a permanent Advisory Council. The Hon. L. Harcourt. in reply, referred to the labours of the Dominions Commission, and also to the Government’s efforts at cheaper cables and direct emigration towards the Dominions instead of to foreign countries. The Imperial Conference had rejected the Advisory Council proposal, but the Dominions wore admitted to the Defence Committee, a plan which for the present was satisfactory and satisfying. It might lead to more rigorous ties in the future, but he doubted if it could possibly lead to closer communion. He was confident it had secured the solidarity of the Imperial' community, and greatly contributed to the unity of the. British race.
