ORINGI MOUNTED CAMP.

ORINGI, May 6. Reveille sounded throughout the Oringi camp for the first time at C o’clock this morning. The summons was .obeyed prpmptly, and by' -6.30 squads of men could be seen scattered over the. parade ground .'practising physical exercises. It was a bright, frosty morning, and the half-hour's drill before breakfast .was 'appreciated by the men. At 9.30 the.regiments paraded and rode, to, their acvdral training areas, where they were separated into squadrons and again into; troops for 1 the remainder of the day, except for a spell for dinner. Elementary- troop, and squadron drill was carried .out. The, men, as a whole, arc taking a keen interest in their work, and Captain .Foster confidently expects ■ that by the .middle of next week they will be training as a- battalion. A special (-.quad of men is being instructed in the management of the Maxim guns by Lieutenant Rose. The signallers arc also settling down to their works The field ambulance, have, as. yet, had no serious call on their medical chest, only one accident having happened. This was a case in which Trooper Patin, of A Squad., 6th,-Regiment, suffered some injury to his’ hand while holding a refractory horse. • A Board has been set up to inspect rations and forage, before- it leaves the supply stores. Captain J. E, Elmslic (2nd Regiment) has been elected president, with Lieutenant H. P. Taylor (6tlr Regiment) an,d Lieutenant N. D. Cameron (9th Regiment) as.•members. Sixth. Regiment.—Lieut.-Colonel Pringle, •20 Jjfflcera, "332 men, and 380 horses. Ninth Regiment.—Colonel -Samltmann, 17 officers, 311 men, and 327 horses. Signalling..— Lieutenant Herbert, 1 officer, Ifi men, and 17 horfes.

Ambulance.—Major O’Brien, 1 officer 44 men, and 3 horses.
