Received July 7. 9.10 a.m. SYDNEY, July 7. Later messages from Lord Howe island report that the captain and eight of the crew of the Whangaroa landed on June 24. They abandoned tho vessel 15 miles south-west of tiro island. She was waterlogged several days before abandonment. Efforts are being made wirelessly to communicate with vessels in the ■ vicinity of Lord Howe with a view to the picking up of castaways. It is considered possible that the wreckage recently sighted, off Lord Howe cams from the Whangaroa.
