Y.M.C A. COMMITTEE MEETING

Tli® monthly meeting ot the general committee in connection with the movement to establish a Young Men’s Christian Association in Wanganui was held in St. Paul s schoolroom on Thursday evening, there Icing a large attendance. Mr L. E. Bassett was in the chair. Reports were read from the Estimate, Advertising, and Executive Committees. It was stated that the formation of young men’s teams was in hand, and the following captains had agreed to act:— Messrs Barton, Banmgart, 'Heaven, Bel), Blanche, Howe, Kernohau, Kirby, Kendall, and smith. It was also reported that Mr A if. Bignell had consented to act as chairman of the Business Men’s Committee.. Printed matter and literature were now arady, and would be circulated at intervals before the opening of the campaign. Tire executive reported that negotiations were in progress for a site, and that an early announcement would probably be made regarding this matter. This had been made possible by a generous gift of £IBOO >n the part of a well-known citien, to whom the committee were greatly indebted This announcement was followed by an unanimous demonstration of gratitude and ippieciation. Temporary offices, situated it 121 Victoria Avenue, had been secured, these premises would be open in the course :f a few days for the 'business men's com uittee, young men's teams, and the general public. Printed matter and literature jf an informative nature could be there obtained, giving full information of the Association movement.

A MUNIFICENT GIFT. A local resident, who docs not wish his name disclosed, has made a gift of ,£IBOO to the Y.M.C.A, committee to be devoted to the purchase of a site. Those interested in the movement will he delighted at hte generous act, which will greatly assist and encourage the workers in the campaign.
