NATIVE LABOUR PROBLEM. Ftm Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright. Received March 15, 8.10 a.m. CAPETOWN, April 14. The Native Labour Regulations Bill has been read a third time in the Senate. The Ron. H. Burton, Minister for Foreign Affairs, speaking in the Union Assembly, said he hoped to deal comprehensively with native taxation next session. The Government had declined the recent proposals for the introduction of native labourers from new fields outside of the Unions, and hoped instead of extending the source of native labour to restrict existing ones.
The Hon. J. B. M. Hertsog foreshadowed a compromise between Unionists and Hertxogians on the bilingual quest km.
