FULLERS’ PICTURES TO-NIGHT.. I Cinematography progresses with the I times. Anything worth, recordingim the-1 nature of current events is snapped, f by 1 the camera and reproduced very quickly I all over the world. We sec instances ol; I this regularly in the various “gazettes” 8 and "chronicles”’ published by leading | picture-makers. In the dramatic &.u4 v. comedy sections the writers of the various nlays and sketches show great resource ia and vivid imagination. A picture to screened at the Opera House to-nigut which strongly bears out this statement is “Pirates of 1920,” a subject aptly described by a Wellington scribe as one “well worthy of the imaginings of H. G. Wells.” It is cleverly conceived and admirably executed. The picture ' shows in sensational style how the pirate of the future will conduct his predatory ;actus by means of the aeroplane, discarding tirely the ancient lugger of bygone days. In “Love, Luck, and Gasoline” the very fine equipment of motor-boats and steam launches, owned by the Vitagraph Companw of America, play a prominent part. It is a remarkable picture, and one which markedly illustrates the rapid strides being made in animated photography. The popular A.B. Company- are to the fore with an excellent film entitled “Two Paths,” a symbolism serving as an effective pictorial sermon for girls. In addition to the subjects mentioned are several other choice productions, amongst them being “An American Count,” a comedy by the Lubin Company, which is said to abound in ludicrous situations throughout. 1 As usual, Mr R. O’Hara’s Symphony Orchestra will supply the incidental music. ROYAL SKATING RINK. DRUIDS’ HALL. Skating opened strongly at the Druids’ Hall Royal Skating Rink on Saturday. There was an excellent attendance in the evening, and the popular pastime was prosecuted with much enthusiasm. Mr Bert Dobbs is, in charge of the attendance. and is prepared to give every assistance to novices.
