At the Inter-State Commerce Commission, which is taking evidence at Chicago, complaints were made that Australian, Japanese, and the Philippines competition was likely to drive the hardwood lumbermen of Wisconsin out ef the business nnless the railways were forced to restore the seventy-five per centum rate on lumber sent to the Pacific coast.
