Press Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright. PARIS, March 30. At the tennis doubles at Cannes, Wilding and Ritchie beat Mavracordato and Rahc, 6—4, 6—2, 7—5. EASTER TOURNAMENT. Amongst those expected at the above : tournament is Miss Traveri, of Wellingr ton, present lady champion of New Zear land. If Miss PowHrell, the retired cham- ■ pioh,'.also competes, the meeting of these two alone will be a great Missee Williams and Hartgill, winners, of | the ladies' doubles championship of Manawatu, are also expected to be present. Messrs Sellars and Caplen, Hawera. who won the men's championship doubles here last Easter, have signified their intention of defending their title. Entries close with the secretary, Mr C. Goldsbury, on Tuesday next, April 4. RESIDENTIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The ladies' championship was advanced a further stage yesterday, when. Mr Hesse wasl successful against Miss BaEkman. The winner played with confidence throughout, and won fairly comfortably. The; courts were very fast, which appeared'%>: put Miss Barkman right off her game. , Mrs Hesse is now in the final. In the- : men's championship, Clark met McCarthy,, and a slashing three-set match was the result. McCarthy ptarted out to hit, and led in the first set, 3-1, then Clark took a hand, and took the set at 6-4 The second set was a good one, McCarthy eventually winning, 6-3. In the .final set Clark was very, steady, and both •players put in some good drives. Clark held the upper.hand, and set and match, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. J: •-.-■.•
