The winner played with confidence throughout, and won fairly comfortably. The; courts were very fast, which appeared'%>: put Miss Barkman right off her game. , Mrs Hesse is now in the final. In the- : men's championship, Clark met McCarthy,, and a slashing three-set match was the result. McCarthy ptarted out to hit, and led in the first set, 3-1, then Clark took a hand, and took the set at 6-4 The second set was a good one, McCarthy eventually winning, 6-3.
