Sailed.—AVaipori. for Auckland. Mr C. F. Millward advises ' that the I’ctone got away for Lyttelton at 12 o’clock to-day, and the Breeze, which arrives on to-morrow morning’s tide, will sail for Southern ports in the evening. It is slated that the new floating crane for Auckland is the most up-to-date of its kind in existence. It is guaranteed to lift 80 tons dead weight. The crane and jib will be on a steel pontoon, which will be pro■peWed by twin screws. The vessel will go alongside steamers at the wharf and take out a heavy lift without interfering with other unloading operations. The crane is of the derricking jih type , travelling inwards and outwards, with a radius of 74ft 6in, and capable of working in a circle. The jihhead is 81ft above the water line when the jib is in the lowest position, and the crane, hook is able to descend 52ft below water line. The vessel will draw only about sft of water, and will be 105 ft long by 57ft beam. The parts were made in England, and have been landed at Auckland. Messrs J. B. Adams and Co. have already made a start to put the parts together. The crane will be delivered in seven months.
