There were 53 convictions for drunkenness at the S.M. Court during the past quarter, this number including six Maoris. There were-21 prohibition orders granted, and three charges of breachce of orders. The civil returns for the S.M. Court during the last quarter show that J3841 Is 9d was sued for, and J1732 19s 8d recovered. The Court sat 69 times during, the quarter. £214- 19s was paid in stamps for civil fees. There were 11 cases of maintenance and 14 charges of disobedience of maintenanco orders heard before the S.M. last quarter. During the period 13 cases were brought by Mr Denis Carmody, Inspector ot Factories and Awards. There were nine charges of breaches of borough by-laws. The total number of criminal cases heard was 155.
