It was announced recently that the United States had arranged naval, manoeuvres on the Great Lakes . during the coming summer, and Premier Laurier was invited to declare that such an action was a breach of the treaty with Britain. -The, Premier agreed to make representations to Washington. The United States'.replied that the naval exercises were merely confined to the existing Lake Fleet, and there would be no war manoeuvres.
