Fanners who are anxious to obtain “Sedgwick” boys will no doubt be interested to know that there are several strong, healthy New Zealand boys who want work on farms, and whose sendees can ho arranged for at the Boys’ Institute, Wellington.

It came out in evidence in a court case ui Woodville, in which a defendant was prosecuted for not eradicating blackberry, that at both Pongaroa and Pahiatua Horticultural Shows first and second pntes were given for “blackberries grown m the district.” In each case both the pmes were annexed by an exhibitor who gathered the prize berries on the roadside. At the monthly meeting of the Clevedon (Auckland) branch of the Farmers Union the following remit was ordered to be sent to the provincial executive: ihat the Government be urged to legislate m the direction ot land agents’ commission so as to put a check upon land booms by land agents and speculators, by compelling them to take out licenses as in the case of auctioneers.”

The Castlccliff Surf-Bathing Club are considci ing the necessity of a new dressing room for ladies on the One of the two sheds is now set apart for ladies, but it is thought desirable that another shed be erected about 30 yards away from the present site. The cost would hi between A 25 and MO. and it is hoped that the ladies interested in the matter will combine with the Surf Club in an effort to raise this amount.
