A DERBYSHIRE TRAGEDY.
SAD SEQUEL TO GIRL’S ARREST. Press Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright. Received March 29, 9.40 a.m, LONDON, March 28. A girl who was arrested’ for stealing at Matlock, Derbyshire, jumped into the river. A policeman followed the girl, who gripped him, and refused to release her hold, both being drowned. A second policeman dived repeatedly into 15ft of water, but could not succeed in rescuing them.
