The by-election for Bootle, caused by the resignation of Colonel Sandys, resulted; — Inuspratt (Liberal) 7782 ABonar Law (Unionist) 7776 Mr A. Bonar Law_, who was defeated at tne last general election, was oue of Mr Balfour’s lieutenants. In order to secure his return to Parliament another Unionist, Colonel Sandys, resigned, but the result of the by-election shows that a Liberal has secured the seat- by the narrow margin of six votes.
