The chairman of the Royal Commission which is taking evidence on the question of higher education stated that while the Australian States’ expenditure on education ranged from 7s 8d to 12s Kid per head. Now Zealand spent 18s per head. The Daily Telegraph, commenting on lliese figures, says it is highly creditable that New Zealand should devote so much more money to education in all branches than any of the Australian States.
