A LADY'S PLUNGE.

In spite of numerous warnings, some people who accompany intending passengers to the Port at Nelson (says the Mail), fail to leave the steamer at the appointed time. Last week a lady visitor who delayed too long over her good-byes, found herself in a dilemma. The steamer had moved olf, and had proceeded some little distance before the visitor realised- that she had started on an unlooked for trip to Picton. Reaching the deck, she was somewhat dismayed at the distance the wharf was below her; but she gathered lierself together and made the plunge. A blushing constable and a likewise blushing companion, well known in shipping circles, were right in the line of the lady’s descent, and their combined efforts enabled her to safely land on the wharf.
