SHEARING DISPUTE.

AWARD BY ARBITRATION COURT. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 27. The Arbitration Court has fixed the award in the shearing shed hands’ dispute affecting the Hawke’s Bay, Wanganui, Manawatu, Wairarapa, and Wellington districts. The minimum rates of pay are:—Pressers and wool-rollers, when engaged by the week, 30s, otherwise Is per hour; all other shed hands engaged by, :he week, 27s fid, otherwise lid per hour; cooks, 355; cooks’ assistants, 27s fid. In any case where it is agreed that the worker shall provide his own rations he shall bo paid 15s per week in addition to the rate specified. Youths and Maori females under 18 may be employed at not less than 20s, with board and lodging, file award includes tbe following clause; —The Union shall do all in its power to prevent any strike by any of the workers affected by the award, and if/any strike occurs in which any members of ' tbe Union take part such strike shall bs prima facie evidence that the Union has committed a breach of duty. If any strike by any of the workers affected by this award occur then the operations of .ill provisions shall he suspended, and in view thereof the following provision shall come into force:—The hours of work, wages, and other conditions of work for all workers coming within the scope of this award shall be fixed by agreement between each employer and the individual workers employed by him.
