FIRE NEAR GISBORNE.

(Per United Press Association). GISBORNE, March 25. Mrs Lorry’s 6-rooxned house at Makaraka was destroyed by fire at 2 o’clock this morning. The occupants had. a narrow escape in their night attire, receiving painful burns. The inmates were Mrs Lorry, her brother (Mr Hay), and Mrs Ball and' Mrs Mcßride, and her daughter, visitors from Napier. Nothing was saved. Mr Ball was so badly injured at The Makaraka fire that lie, had to be sent to the hospital. He had made gallant and successful efforts to rescue the others., Insurances:—iEl2s. on the house, and JJIOO on the furniture in the Atlas.
