Paton, a m..sihcr of the commission sent from Victoria to study the missionary position in the East, states, that lie was greatly impressed with the progress of the missionary movement, particularly in Korea. The "whole nation was turning to Christianity, and tremendous changes, politically and socially, were tailing place in the East. China was passing through a national ferment, and the old tilings were passing with lightning rapidity. It was certain that China in. the next few years would play a very different part in history to that played in the past. Limitless opportunities faced the church ■everywhere in the East.
