HARBOUR BOARD'S PRONOUNCEMENT.
“Herald” readers are provided with food for thought in the pronouncement made by the Harbour Board yesterday concerning future proposals. After considerable discussion at various meetings called for the purpose, Messrs J. B. Murray(, W. G. Bassett A. G. Bignell, N. Meuli, and T. D. Williams have subscribed to a definite scheme of works outlined in plans and estimates prepared by Engineer Howarth. The carrying out of the scheme involves a loan of from .£200,000 to £250,000, which the engineer is confident will give 26ft. on the bar at low water and allow of £40,000 being expended in developing the inner harbour. The work is to be completed within three years from the time of starting. We commend the proposals' to the serious consideration of our. readers. On thpir success depends the future of Wanganui.
