At the Eastern Chib’s annual meeting on Tuesday evening, the members decided not to entertain the Rugby Union’s accident insurance scheme, but to inaugurale one of their own. The intention is to hold a series of socials and dances during the winter, the proceeds to go towards an accident fund, from which injured players belonging to the club shall bo entitled to the sum of .£1 per week, with medical aid also provided. It is intended to continue the payment to an injured player so long as ho is incapacitated, and not limit it to six weeks only as the Union propose doing. It is also proposed that a player shall be entitled to payment it injured in any game,' practice matches, Cup or rep. contests, and any member of the club who may bo injured is to receive assistance on the lines slated.
