“Exorbitant and Unreasonable.”
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l wish to draw your attention to what I consider an injustice to the public of Mauganui, and also an exorbitant charge, on the part of our Trkniways Committee. I refer to the carriage of push-carts, for which a charge of 3d is made on any penny section. On one occasion I had to pay 3d from Dublin Street to Thain's corner! and if a passenger gets in at Thain’s corner and alights at the tramway terminus the charge is the same, viz., 3d! Of course, we know that there are certain hours at which these pushcarts are carried free, but it is not always convenient fb travel at these stipulated times. I do not advocate for a free carriage at all hours, but I do think that the charge should be regulated by the distance, or at the same rate as a passenger. Hoping you will give this matter publicity.—l am, etc., CASUAL LABOURER.
