THE PAPUA EXPLORERS.
SEARCH PARTIES RECALLED. Press Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright. Eeceived March 22, 10.10 a.m. HEISBANE, March 22. A steamer has been despatched to pick up Staniforth Smith’s search parties, which are still out and unaware of the party’s return. After the disaster to the raft Smith was bootless, and suffered terribly from ulcerated feet until he constructed boots of fibre.
Speaking at a luncheon, Mr Smith declared that the party’s equipment for the expedition would have been .ample but for the mishap, on the river. If the coal discoveries were found reachable it would be via the Strickland River.
