FESTIVAL OF THE EMPIRE.

THE N.Z. /TEAM. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 21. At a meeting of the local committee of the Festival of the Empire sports, the Australasian committee stated that the New South Wales Government had agreed to give, £ for £ subsidy up to £2OO, Which enabled G. Smyth (champion middleweight wrestler) to be sent. The secretary stated that the amount collected in New Zealand- was £122 Is 6d, and, with the amount in sight, totalled roughly T2lB 4s 6d. A telegram was received from R. Opie stating that he could go on Thursday, but no berth was available on the Corinthic. It was decided to sand him by the Ruahine, sailing on April 6. It was resolved to send a letter to Sir Joseph Ward, informing him of the personnel of the team, also the events in which, they are competing. It was also decided to ask the Acting-Premier to arrange with the High Commissioner for the team to be met on arrival at London,
