BAPTIST CHURCH.

The annual Home Mission Sunday arranged by the Baptist Union of New Zealand was held by the local Baptists on Sunday in the Ingestre Street Church. At 11 a.m. Mr H. E. Edridge, the newlyappointed missioner for Wanganui East, and Mr C. S. Matthews, in charge of the Baptist work at Gonville and Smithficld. took ,the service. Mr Matthews gave an interesting account of tlio home mission enterprise in the Hamilton district. At night, to a large audience, the Ecv. A. S. Wilson spoke impressively on the claims of the denomination upon the young men. A successful service was held by Mr Edridge, when another good congregation assembled. It was stated yesterday that a meeting of the workers had been hold ou Friday, ■ when a plan of work bad been outlined. It had been decided to. hold each week a prayer meeting on Wednesday, a choir practice on Friday, and a Junior Endeavour on' Sunday morning at 10 o’clock. Fresh teachers were added to the Sunday School under Mr Ellis. Another meeting was announced for this week to consider the extension of the building.
