A GENEROUS OFFER. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 20. The stewards of the Wairafapa Pacing Club have written to General Godley stating that, with tlie desire to show their sympathy with the defence training scheme, they will grant the use of the grounds and furniture to the military camp free of charge. General Sodley lias replied thanking the stewards for their courtesy and generosity, and expressing the great indebtedness which all ranks of the defence force owed them for their kindness and sympathy.

LORD ISLINGTON'S APPRECIATION. - WELLINGTON, March 20. Lord Islington's private secretary lias written to 'General Godley 'as follows:“I am instrncted' by.the Governor to con-; vey to you, and ask you to transmit to Colonel Heard and officers and non-com-missioned officers under 7 his command at the camp of instruction at Tauhsrcnikan the expression of his Excellency’s high appreciation of the military efficiency dis-i played-by all ranks 'during his visit to the camp on Saturday. ; His Excellency was greatly impressed by the admirable manner in which the attack was delivered during the' morning’s proceedings: also the smart and efficient manner in which both company and troop drill was performed in tho afternoon. His Excellency is sure all who witnessed the day’s proceedings must, with him ; have realised- that •so high a standard can only have been attained by most careful trailing and assiduous-appli-cation in camp during the past two (pihriths. He begs to congratulate all ranks bn the splendid effort being displayed to start the netv defence scheme on such lines of high military efficiency.
