STEERING GEAR DEFECTS. Press Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright. SYDNE i, March 20. ' Owing to defects in the destroyers’steering gear the visit to Sydney has been postponed.' Great preparations have been made for the official welcome on Wednesday, and there is much disappointment at the postponement. MELBOURNE, March 20. Experts are completely puzzled by the destroyers’ defects. Alterations have been made to the steering gear, but without effect. Engineers are • carefully examining each part to try to discover the cause of the defects. It is stated that similar difficulties occurred in the same class of boats in England.
