After a secret trial by the diplomatic body, a number ofjprominent Japanese as* semblcd to hear sentence pronounced on Dr. Ketoku, his wife, and 23 other prisoners. ' When sentence was pronounced, one of the doomed rose and shputed “Banzai.’’ The rest of the. prisoners sprang to thoir feet, and Ketoku cried, “Long live Anarchy !” Two of the prisoners were sentenced to eight and eleven years respectively.
