Jackson and Co. report as follower—At our Wanganui sale yesterday (18th) we had a heavy yarding, viz., 600 head of cattle, 9000 sheep, and 100 pigs. The attendance was good, and bidding for sheep spirited. We quitted over 8000, sheep under the hammer at satisfactory prices to the vendors. A good demand ’exists for sound local hill country 2-t6oths. Cattle maintained late values. Bullocks suitable for fattening paddocks advanced somewhat in values. A full entry of pigs sola in vendors’ favour. LONDON WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan' and Mercantile Agency Co. are in receipt of the following cable advice of the opening of the January London wool sale.? on 17th inst.; — There was a good attendance at the Queuing of the sales, and competition by Home- and foreign buyers was fairly active. Compared with closing rates of November sales prices were 71 per cent, lower for greasy crossbred, 5 per cent, lower for gcod merino, and 71 to 10 per cent, lower for medium merinos, inferior and faulty wools. Dalgetv and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London office, dated 17th inst.. in regard to the opening of the sales: At the wool sales the attendance of buyers generally is large, good selection of wools, and competition animated.
