April 27., At the wool sales 9580 bales were catalogued. They were a good average selection, including 6803 from New Zealand. There was a very large attendance of European buyers and a few Americans. There was a strong demand for merinos, which were firm at top January rates. Crossbreds were practically unchanged. Shabby lower sorts wore slightly in buyers’ favour. STOCK AND SHARE QUOTATIONS. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cable message from their London house under date of the 26th inst:— The May series opened with a large attendance of buyers, fairly animated competition, and a klection comprising nearly all crossbreds. For merinos generally prices show an advance of from par to 5 per cent., fine and medium crossbreds are unchanged, and coarse crossbreds are from part to 5 per cent, lower. At our Marton sale on Tuesday, the 26th inst., we had a very fair yarding of stcok. All lines of good lambs and wethers met with a keen demand, and practically all lots were quitted. Quotations;— SheepSmall mixed lambs 7s 2d v small ewe lambs to Bs. mixed lambs Bs, 8s 6d. to 9s 3d; wether lambs 8s Id to 9s lid. For extra good mixed aged ewes in lamb to 10s od; empty ewes to 9s sd; small wethers 11s to 11s 9d; fat and forward wethers to 14s 6d; 2-tooth ewes 14s to 14s 3d. Messrs Dalgety an dCompany, Ltd., report:— At our Palmerston North sale this day there was a fair entry of both sheep aud cattle and the majority were disposed of at the following prices:—Aged ewes ss, empty ewes 10s to 10s Id. cnll wethers 9s 6d, fat and forward wethers to 13s 3d. smaU mixed weaners 225. bulls 35s to £4 15s, fat cows to £5 2s 6d, empty heifers £3 4s to £3 10s 6d, 34-year steers to £5 14s, 2-year steers £3 14s cows with calves £4 10b to £5 2s 6d. Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., have received the following wool market cablegram from tbeir London agonfs. Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Co., dated 26th April. 1910: Sales have opened with a good attendance of buyers and brisk competition. The market shows no material change, except merino par to 5 per cent, advance, and crossbred part to 5s per cent, decline. ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS’ REPORT. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report a good yarding of both sheep aud cattle at Marton on Tuesday. Ewes were a little easier. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: V>. e bad a largo entry of both sheep and cattle, and tjie inquiry was good for fill classes. The sheep consisted chiefly ol aged ewes and medium lambs which met with a ready sale, all lines changing hands with the exception of a small pea of ewes. We yarded several nice lines of bullocks,, which met with fair competition on acount of A. Harding, of .Siberia. Sixty 3-year bullocks realised 15 IGs, and 27 forward bulocks on account of Mr P. A. McHardy, made 17 9s. We quote: Sheep.—Mixed aged ewes 5s Gd to Ss 9d. ewes in lamb 5s 6d to 11s Bd, lambs 4s 9d to 7s sd. wethers 7s lOd.
