(.RAVEL PlT.—Resolved, that the Macao .gabnga Road-Board be written to re-' quo ting them to pay half the- cost of ■fenettfg the gravel pit on the Kaiiliatira Road,;.

ELECTION.— I The Returning Officer an.nornoed the re-election'of Mr John Jones as Mayor unopposed.—Several Councillors congratulated his Worship.

RECREATION GROUND.—The Reserves Committee- reported that the use- of the Recreation Ground had been granted to the two football clubs (Rugby and soccer).

LOAN.-—Gr Neilson gave notic’o to- move, “That steps be taken under the Local Lours Act to raise ill,Booo, the rating to be ever the Duncan Estate and that portico of the Walker Estate lying south of Hakeke Street, to form and metal all streets iVithiu the area, obtain reading access between Poutini and Naketu Streets and level crossing between Poutini and Paij ai Strcts, the special area to’pay'interest on £BOO and the whole district on £1000.” ASSESSMENT.—The Clerk intimated that;,the Assessment Court had made a red notion of £7. 2s 6d on a total valuation of, £1,200. —The Valuator was compiii- on ted on his good work.

RAILWAY CROSSING.— Cr Neilson moved;. “That the Railway Department be paid =£l2o for the cost of a crossing from Bourtini Street to Paipai Street.”— Cr Hill seconded.-—Cr Burton expressed the opinion that there were other more im, ortant matters which might . occupy the attention of the Council in the meantin, c, and he thought, 11; at ihis proposal coi;l-..l bo held over.—ilcid over till next meeting.

I) BA NAG E AREA.—Cr Neilson, on behalf of Cr McCaul, moved that the Council again inspect the proposed boundary of drainage area in Paul’s Estate with the consulting engineer.—Cr Willis seconded pro forma.—After discussion the motion was lost.

Fi NANCE.—Tiie Clerk reported the gear era!-district account, dr 18902 2s lid. RIVER BANK FENCE.—Cr Neilson moved that' tenders bo invited for 20 chains of fencing- on the river bank above Aruuioho Bridge'.—Carried, and Crs Neilsou and the Foreman authorised to attend to the matter.

CORSE.—Cr Neilson said it was quite 'time an example was made of those owners who wore taking no steps to eradicate gome. He moved that the Foreman grub up. the gerso. on property belonging to two persons who had received notice,.and charge them with the cost.—Carried, C;, ERICS SALARY.—Cr Neilson gave notice' to- move at next meeting that the Cleric's salary be increased. DEPUTATION.—Mr Lnxford waited on the Council, representing a deputation, requesting the opening of the street at the top of the Recreation Ground into Mack-ay Street. It meant the purchase of a quarter of an acre, but would prove most convenient, and was a matter of groat importance to residents, especially those who wanted to get to the Recreation Ground.—Mr Neilson gave notice of motion that the section referred to be purenased accordingly.
