AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC

; Hayward’S pictures. ; There was another good audience-present last night, when the present series was again much appreciated. The mechanical part of the performance is now practically perfect, and the well-known, high-class films which are shown complete ah entertainment which is second to none in the Dominion. The management are determined to present the very best in , the picture world to their patrons, and in future all pictures shown at West’s Pictures in Wellington will be forwarded direct' to Wanganui, so that patrons will have the most up-to-date entertainment provided. The present series will be presumed for the next two nights, and will be withdrawn after the matinee on Satur-day-afternoon. The attraction on Saturday night - , when there will be a complete change -of programme, will ■be “Eedman’s View.”,

MUSICAL ALL BLACKS TO-NIGHT. The Musical, All Blacks, after an absence of nearly five years, open a two nights’ season at the Opera House tb-night, when no ■doubt they will be greeted by a bumper house. Since their last visit the Company has toured Australia and South Sea Islands, doing phenomenal business, their reasons at the Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide Town Halls being wonderfully successful. As a, family, the All Blacks were always worth going miles to hear, provided an entertainment that was delightfully refreshing, and were always welcomed by big houses. During' their absence several new attractions have been added, including four distinguished English artists and what is said to he the most up-to-date moving picture outfit touring the Dominion. The. pictures are worked by a 10,000 candle-power engine and dynamo, which is the latest invention of modern times, and Mr Black secures the most up-to-date pictures from all parts of tlie world. In Australasia. Mr Black is now recognised as one of the peers in the moving picture world, and his name now on any poster is enough to secure a packed house. A feature is made of the electric lighting of stage and outside illuminations, whilst the All Blacks’ brass band of seven instruments dispense sweefmusic outside before the commencement of the performance. To sum up the performance it is well tojuote a few lines taken from ■a paragraph of the Melbourne Age: “There is not a dull moment from the rise to the fall of the curtain, and the vast audieuce went away quite satisfied they had received even more than their money’s worth,” This will he the last opportunity of seeing the Black Family as it is now comnosed, as at the end of the year some of the lady members are retiring into private life. Mr Black will then probably visit England and America, to secure novelties, and then reform the Company, and after louring Australasia will visit a show that is up-to-date in every respect. Special rates of admission are being charged, which will bo found elsewhere.

A meeting of ratepayers of the Manga■vhero Road District has been called for Saturday next at 3.30 p.m., in the Court Theatre, Upokongaro.
