The evidence showed that the family lived in great poverty -and misery. On the night the child was killed the children went to bed {oodless. The medical evidence showed that the deceased had probably been rendered ..unconscious ■by a blow and then the jugular vein severed. The doctor detailed otlier ; horrifying injuries. ,i One witness heard a three-year-old sister of the deceased prattling to herself “Poor WTclpe; Daddio beat Wickie with bottle.”.
