The Daily News, commenting on Mr Balfour’s speech to the League meeting, said that in Canada. South Africa and Australia the ruling parties all repudiated the suggestion that the.Unionists are the English nation and symbols of Imperial tradition. Mr Balfour, says the paper, employs reckless revolutionary language concealing his real purpose. He is ready to uproot the responsibility of the King’s advisers and the non-responsibilities of t]io King, because he wishes to destroy one of. the King’s prerogatives.
THE BUDGET. Passed Through Committee Stages. LONDON, April 27. The Budget lias passed through Committee stapes. The discussion related to the clause making it clear that there would be no increment duty on purely agricultural land. . Mr Lloyd-Gcotge incidentally replying to attacks, declared that the country had decided in favour of the Budget.
