On December 20th last, it was cabled that Donaldson, a settler near Inverlar, N.S.W., who had got into debt through wagering with his sons on a boxing contest, attempted to shoot his daughter and his wife, who lived with his sous on a farm. His son got a gun and exchanged shots with his father. The latter ran away, and was found dead, having been shot twice in the head.
