important meeting of all officers and N.C.O.’s of the Guards, Highland and Irish Rifles will be held 'at the Drill Shed at 7.15 o’clock to-night. A full attendance is specially requested. The local infantry companies will take part to-night in some scheme having for its object the attack and defence of a position some two miles out of town. At the utmost secrecy prevails on the part of both forces, interesting developments and practical lessons in night manoeuvres should result. To-morrow (Wednesday) evening all officers of the infantry companies and Defence Cadets will meet in the officers’ .club-room at 7.30 o’clock to discuss rifle range matters. It is well to point out diat all officers of the above-mentioned companies are members of the Rifle Range Council. Hitherto officers commanding companies constituted the Council. As the business to be transacted is of vital , importance to all concerned, it is imperative that every officer should be present. On Friday evening next Lieut.-Colonel Chaytor, director of military education, will give a lecture to the officers of the local garrison companies.
