Several questions are being asked in the House of Commons regarding the Japanese tariff, which the Diet is considering and ■which comes into operation in July, 1911, on textiles. It is considered that the average of two and a half to threefold above present rates is prohitibion. Many Lancashire and Yorkshire articles would be subject to the proposed tariff. It was stated that the Board of Trade was consulting the Chambers of Commerce.
