EAST COAST GALES
HEAVY SEAS MODERATING. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, April 26. Hie sea, which is the heaviest for years, is now moderating somewhat along the East Coast. At Tokomarn Bay the Farmers’ Company’s launch was smashed to pieces. The schooner Oreti was lying at anchor in a cove, and when the storm came on both anchors began to drag. The cables part-d, and Captain Barnes beached the vessel. The schooner was run high up on the beach and the crew were able to step ashore. Tire vessel is not damaged, and the cargo is secure.
