HEAVY SEAS AT NAPIER
FATALITY AT THE BREAKWATER. Man Caught by a Roller and Drowned. ("Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, April 25. A phenomenally heavy sea is running in the bay, and the Tarawera, from the North, is holding off pending its moderation. George Duncan, single, aged about 35, was swept off the breakwater wharf by an unusually large roller, and was drowned. Two Harbour Board employees, named Harmon and ,McCallum, were caught by another roller whilst going to Duncan’s rescue, and were severely injured. The sea is the heaviest experienced for many years.
