Colonel Kirkpatrick has been engaged as Inspector-General of the Commonwealth forces' for four years at a salary of JISOO per annum and house allowance. Colonel Kirkpatrick is a native of Canada, and has had' a brilliant career. MELBOURNE, April 23. There is considerable indignation here among military officers over the appointment of Colonel Kirkpatrick. Several Labour members have expressed their disapproval. Their criticism is based on the idea that the appointment was arranged after the Government knew it was defeated, and also on the objection to importing an officer for the post.
