Suggestions.

TO THE EDITOR. 1 Six’, —Now that Aramoho has become part of the Wanganui Borough, it is to bo hoped that the first of the Borough Council will be to errect a few lights along the River Bank, especially in the vicinity of the railway bridge, also form and metal the footpaths from the tram terminus to at least the post office, and also on river side from trams to bridge, in the winter months, owing to the fact that the centre of the road is ankle deep with mud after leaving the well lighted tram cars, one is liable to get lost in the mud in attempting to cross to what is now an apology . ior a footpath. The same also applies to the Wanganui East side of the river, as there is a considerable amount of traffic across the railway bridge, the Wanganui East Council are now having a footpath formed to connect with the town bridge, which is certainly money well spent, but there is nothing like the traffic as there is along the river bank to the railway bridge and tram terminus. No doubt a footpath, say, from Mr Mackay’s to the railway bridge would also be money well spent. During the past, winter there were a number of accidents to v. 'roe ■ through falling into the ditch at r : t riii ein attempting to dodge the rauroad, ft would require a small 01 .. ..awry out that work, and I am A w mid he very much appreciated by the many who have to use it. Possibly our progressive Council may also see their way to" have erected a few lights say, one at the end of each road connectitio- with the rh*'r bank, also one at the bridge, where there is a very dangerous spot through meeting vehicles under tho dark bridge.' Whilst on the job I would also like to make another suggestion, and that is to have notice boards erected on each end of the railway bridge, directing people crossing to keep to tho right as vhe bridge is very narrow and there docs not appear to be any rules as to which side to take. I have noticed when the men from -the workshops arc crossing, it is very confusing, as they appear to dodge from one side to the other. Possibly it would have to fall to tho lot of the workshops to errect such notice boards. In fact, it is surprising to me that they have not done so before, as it is to their interests as they, have to use the bridge pore than anybody c:..j.— l am, etc., WANGANUI EAST.
